Dear New Hampshire Highways Readers:
On behalf of the Board of Directors, I wish to thank all our members and friends who participated in the Equipment Showcase Open (see page 7) this year. We had two fantastic days for our Summer Social and golf tournament. Our newly renamed Summer Social had a great turnout, and for the first time in four years, it did not rain! Everyone enjoyed the more laid-back atmosphere, and there was some great networking going on with the sound of cornhole in the background. Friday's tournament had an impressive sixty-six teams — thirty-five at Beaver Meadow and thirty-one at Canterbury Woods — made up of some serious and some not-so-serious golfers. Golfing ability aside, I did not see anyone who wasn't enjoying the day and the camaraderie.
A special thank you goes to all the contest and raffle participants. Through your generosity, over $2,000 was raised for the New Hampshire Good Roads Construction Scholarship. This scholarship — supported by members in different ways throughout the year — enables us to provide financial help to several students every year and represents an essential aspect of our mission. Information about our scholarships can be found on our website, along with applications for 2025. In addition to the scholarship program, over $2,500 was raised to support the work of the Workforce Development Committee (see pages 20-21 for more details).
Are you ready for the Fall Social? Plan to join us on November 2 in Meredith at Church Landing at Mill Falls at the Lake. Dig out your cowboy boots and dust off your cowboy hat because we're going "western" with live music by Whiskey Horse! This is always a great time to network with colleagues and friends, and the setting is spectacular. Additional information and registration details are available at nhgoodroads.org or by calling Brenda at the NHGRA office at 603.224.1823.
To close out the year, we will be hosting a holiday social on December 12, open to all our members! We will let you know the details soon. Finally, an important election is coming up on November 5, and I encourage everyone to get out and vote. Get to know the candidates. Find out where they stand on the transportation funding and infrastructure issues important to you, our industry, and the future of our communities.
Good roads and bridges are good for everyone!
Sincerely,
Adam Bates
President
