President's Message - Summer 2024

 Dear New Hampshire Highways Readers:

As we approach the middle of our busy season, I would like to thank everyone who is taking time out of their very busy schedule to read this letter and know that, as an organization, we truly do appreciate everyone’s interest in the magazine. Reading the magazine is a great way to keep up with the current happenings in the industry around the state and if you’re at all like me, then you get very excited when each new issue arrives in your mailbox. I would like to ask you when you’re finished with this issue to consider sharing it with a friend or coworker who isn’t an individual member, to help spur some interest and hopefully inspire them to come to an event or become a member of NHGRA. If you don’t want to give up your copy, digital copies are available on our website or you can reach out to any board member, Brenda, or myself for an extra copy.

Again, I know how busy we all are this time of year, but I want to remind everyone that the Equipment Showcase Open is right around the corner on July 25 & 26 at Beaver Meadow Golf Course and Canterbury Woods Country Club. This year we will be hosting the Summer Social, formerly VIP Night, at Beaver Meadow the evening before the tournament. We are adding cornhole to the fun along with a great showcase of equipment and excellent food. It’s an evening you will not want to miss! You can easily register for golf, exhibit space, and sponsorships online at the NHGRA website.

I’m proud to announce that the Scholarship Committee for the Roger F. Provost Scholarship and the NHGRA Construction Scholarship met this spring and awarded a total of $6,000 to five deserving students. Your help in building our scholarship resources is greatly appreciated (See page 23).

On behalf of the organization, I would like to congratulate Gary Abbott on his remarkable 40-year career with the Associated General Contractors of New Hampshire and wish him all the best in his retirement. His dedication, hard work, and unwavering commitment have left a lasting mark on the construction industry throughout New Hampshire. We certainly appreciate the support he gave to New Hampshire Good Roads, the transportation industry, and the numerous organizations he served.

Looking ahead, you won’t want to miss the Fall Social on November 2 at Church Landing in Meredith. Please plan to join us for an exciting evening of good friends, great food, fun surprises, and lots of dancing. Check out our website — nhgoodroads.org — for details. If you have any thoughts or suggestions that you feel will help NHGRA serve our members, please let us know. I hope everyone has a busy, safe, and not too rainy summer.

Sincerely,

Adam Bates

President
